With only just under 2 weeks left of 2009 and hopefully the prospect of an improved 2010 on the horizon maybe its time to just recap what A2000 Systems has been up to in the past year. Firstly the major event was the replacement of our old Cable Management System with a new and improved version – the SPX. Even though the old version was a very popular modal we felt that a simpler version would offer customers a better product. Now it just has a single piece of metalwork (as opposed to 2) and magnetised front glass panels. We feel its more stylish and so much easier in install – plus it has the added advantage that should you break a panel all its cost is the price of a new piece of glass (no need the scrap the whole unit). These new units have proved once again to be very popular with the public. Also we have chopped and changed some of the other tables/stands we sell so as to give as wide a range as we feel is possible (unfortunately we can’t stock everything). We also now advertise on some of the online shopping facilities, which hopefully will give our products a wider exposure. Keep an eye out on our website www.a2000systems.co.uk for all future product developments!!

After you have consulted one of the many consumer magazines or taken the time to browse online then the time will come to go out there and purchase your new TV screen. I imagine the first thought in people’s minds will be the cost – what sort of bang do I get for my pound. Do I purchase a 32-inch LCD from one manufacturer or for an extra few quid go buy a 42-inch Plasma from another maker. And now with some manufacturers dipping a toe into the LED screen market this offers yet another choice for the consumer. Say for instants you have just spent £500 on a 32-inch LCD and after you have set it all up you notice that although the picture quality is good you feel it could be better. So off you go and get some HDMI leads. Again once installed you then think that the TV would look a lot better mounted on the wall instead of where it previously sat. Again after looking in a magazine you notice an advert for a “Cable Management System” from A2000 Systems. You check out their extensive range on their website www.a2000systems.co.uk and decide on a tilting bracket and black SPX cable management – and voila!! So it may not be just a case of going out and buying a TV like you first thought. It pays just to go and do that little bit of extra homework.

When my parents finally made the change and went from having a CRT to a 32inch LCD screen I thought “at last they have come out the stone age”. They have now settled into the “big screen” way of life with a better picture and improved sound quality. They have a digi-box, DVD player and VHS recorder all hooked up so they have all they need to watch TV. Now I don’t want to name drop but one of them still is having trouble coming to grips with all this technology - its no differnet to about 5 years ago. They sit there and watch whatever happens to be on the screen at the time and when I ask if they are watching it the reply is usuallly the same “I didnt know how to change channels”. Last week the DVD player packed up so I went out and got a replacement for them (nothing fancy just the basic). It sat there for about 3 days before I took the step and plugged it in (was awaiting one of my other brothers to do the honours - blood out of a stone springs to mind). I tested it to make sure all was fine in the viewing world and as of yet no-one has watched a DVD!! I must admit this new TV has lots of features that I cant fathom out but it aint rocket science. You must think my family are “right gormless” which is not the case and with more and more people living longer I wonder if TV makers have looked at this “oldies V technology” question??

The marketplace is constantly changing – its does not matter what product it is manufacturers are always looking at ways of re-inventing their range of products. When A2000 Systems first started we basically sold 5 types of brackets – these we decided would be universal so as to basically be able to fit any make/model of TV. Then a couple of screen makers released TV’s that needed a different type of bracket – our answer was a re-design of a specific part rather than a complete re-design. Soon the market place for brackets became flooded and we branched out with a unique and novel answer to that age old problems of untidy cables and visual equipment placement. Our wall mounted Cable Management Systems really took off with the public and demand soon grew as word got around. We did not rest on our laurels and again a re-design saw the Cable Management become even easier to install and use but still keeping the original and simple concept. Here at www.a2000systems.co.uk we never sit still as we feel that to survive in this competitive market you shouldn’t let the grass grow under your feet!!

When you read this blog you may think “hear he goes again with that why cant manufacturers make TV’s in other colours” rant again but no I have just thought of another strand to my argument. Design can sometimes be a hit and miss affair and it does not matter what product it is you look at them and think that there is something slightly not right with it. Quite a few of you already are aware of my argument with the “why screens only seem to come in black or silver” but I do wonder if its possible to make a TV that breaks away from the classic square shape or even just does not look like a TV at all. Technology has come along way since 2000 with products that are more flexible and powerful but that are more compact. You have Sat-Nav’s on your mobile phone now and Camcorders that fit into your pocket. However TV’s, even though they have got thinner and some say more stylish to me they still look like a TV screen. Not being an expert on design (I still think the Chopper bike was great) the mould needs to be broken and makers need to take that risk.

With Christmas just less than two weeks away and people rushing out to buy those last minute gifts for family and friends many retailers are already gearing up for the January sales. Quite a few of them are not waiting until January to offer some really good deals - £50 or even £100 off some big screen TV’s. This time of the year is always a good time to go grab a bargain and save you a few quid. Then when you have treated yourself to that “steal of a deal” why not go and treat your TV to that perfect piece of furniture and look at one of our very practical and stylish A2000 Cable Management Systems?? Quite a few weeks ago I did a blog about the London Olympics in 2011. I thought this would be an ideal opportunity for showing what a big screen is capable of - not only watching all the events in the comfort of your own home but for also getting out to maybe a pub and seeing it live whilst having a few beers. It then dawned on me that you dont have to wait until 2011 to be part of a global sporting spectacle. Next year is the World Cup in South Africa and football fans from around the globe are gearing up in the hope their team will lift the trophy. Soon the sales (just after Xmas) will be upon us with bargains galore to be had so if you havent already got a Plasma/LCD this is the time to make the switch - not only saving you some money but also seeing all the sporting razzmattaz that is the World Cup. Also with the money you will hopefully save why not also treat yourself (and your telly) to one of our Cable Management Systems to round off that visual experience - not only are they stylish and practical but you family and friends will comment on what is the must have accessory. Whoever you want to win (come on ENGLAND!!!) make 2010 the year and make that switch if you havent already!!!

Tha California Energy Commission’s proposals to mandate TV power consumption is becoming increasingly bitter with at least one industry insider describing a recent public hearing held by the CRC as “a sham”. Politicians from all sides have warned that as demand for large screen TV’s increases this will put increased pressure on California’s power grid with it ultimately creating a need for more power plants. A group manager from one manufacturer has stated “We are very disappointed that the CRC continues to ignore the arguments from the TV industry and that the ultimate result will be screens that have fewer features”. Many makers are also challenging the position taken by the LCD TV Association whach has said that the industry “can comply with the CRC’s proposed tier power curb with current technology and without substantial cost premiums to the consumer”. More and more manufacturers are taking the issue of power comsumption seriously as the public makes steps to become more environmentally friendly and this becomes a factor when choosing their large screen TV. Technology is constanting changing and screen power consumption will ultimately decrease whilst still keeping high levels of picture and sound quality.
