Lcd screen manufacture slow down.

April 30th, 2009

Manufactures have cut its forecast for 2008 and 2009 LCD-TV shipments but is still predicting growth of more than 20 per cent next year.

Having previously predicted LCD-TV shipments would hit around 100 million this year, the analyst has lowered its forecast by almost six per cent. The change is due to the world down turn is having on spending but the amended figure would still represent annual growth.

The 2009 shipments has also been trimmed by more than ten per cent from 130 million to 117 million. Despite the drop, this would still represent a 20.5 per cent increase on 2008 shipments. The analyst claimed sales in 2008’s final quarter would be somewhat weaker than expected and this trend would continue through 2009.

The market will then rebound significantly in 2010, and the upturn would be attributable to a number of key factors. Firstly, a continued decline in price will help to push sales and secondly the market will benefit from new screen production capacity.

Thirdly, brand and retailer commitments to sell more LCD-TVs would give the market a shot in the arm. Finally, increased demand from consumers will ensure healthy sales in 2010.

Paper Speakers To Bring Price Of LCD TV’s Down

April 28th, 2009

A Taiwanese research group has developed stereo speakers in paper, which will lead to low-cost speakers perfect for thin devices such as LCD TVs or even talking movie posters to be used as advertisements.

Engineers at Taiwan’s Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) have already produced rolls of paper stereo speakers and say they will be used in cars starting from next year. They are also planning a splash introduction of the new technology at a big exhibition in Taipei next year in which they will unroll a three-story high banner that can blare out tunes.

“A lot of companies are interested in this product,” said Chen Ming-daw, a research director at ITRI. “We don’t have enough people to handle all the attention right now.”

They call it Flexpeaker because you can roll it up or fold it just like regular paper.

One cool way the technology will be used is on movie posters.

The goal for the researchers is to be able to mass produce standard poster-size speakers (A2, or 60centimeters by 44cm) costing just US$20 each. Movie makers could then put out posters with soundtrack music or movie highlights emanating from them as people walk by.

The special paper is made by sandwiching thin electrodes that receive audio signals and a prepolarized diaphragm into the paper structure. A special Flexpeaker adapter between the MP3 player and the speaker is used to play music through the paper. But in a year, ITRI hope to develop a chip that will do away with the adapter and allow people to plug a digital music player directly into the speaker.

They’re also working on wireless technologies.

In July, the group will show off its first Bluetooth enabled paper speaker, which will eliminate the need for wires, said Liou Chang-ho, project manager of ITRI’s Flexpeaker initiative.

One limitation with Flexpeaker is that while It’s very good with sounds at frequencies between 500Hz to 20KHz, it doesn’t handle low frequency sounds well.

That problem can be offset by adding a subwoofer to any system with the paper speakers, said Liou. That’s the idea ITRI is working on for LCD TV makers. The paper speakers are so thin that they’re perfect for the current push to ultra thin LCD TVs, a maker simply has to add a subwoofer to make a quality sound system.

ITRI is already working with a company to produce the speakers in rolls, like rolls of paper.

“Once it’s being made in rolls, the cost will drop a lot,” said Liou.

Positive Thinking Through a Recession

April 27th, 2009

Positive thinking through a recession can be quite difficult to be brave and make those positive srides and investment, however A2000 system limited decided they would be brave and make positive steps and make financial investment. We have invested in a new display which will be ready for the first week in May showing our largest range of new products in one hit, normally we would only able to introduce one product at a time as we would have normally struggledin the earlier days due to the lack of man power, this shows how successful the product has been for use to been able to grow the business. We will be launching three new stylish cable management systems to our product range at a cost of £120 and eventually remove very the first type of cable management systems from the range. It does seem a crazy idea as they where the flag ship of our products and very popular, but we are more than confident the new style will exceed the old.

Pick me up in Spring

April 23rd, 2009

It looks like public spending is showing very small signes of things picking up after a few slow months, Im not too sure about having a record year for sales maybe a downturn instead even though Plasma and Lcd manufactures are slashing prices for the retailer to pass on to help generate more intrest in the market place. A2000 systems have used this quiet period to make changes to its for ever growing show room and adding new products to there range. In May we will have ready our latest cable management system Spx which is a very nice compact unit at the lower cost then its big brother Xpc coming in about one hundred and twenty pounds. Our new show room should be ready for the end of April showing a lot more of the products that A2000 have to offer so the customer can see what the unit looks like before commiting to the sale. So keep visting our webb site for the launch of the new cable managment system.

Digital display soloutions.

April 22nd, 2009

The rapid take-up of digital display solutions is bringing with it a far less welcome phenomenon. Crashing operating systems are the bane of every computerised signage operator’s life.

Crashed displays pop up everywhere. UK computer magazine Micro Mart even runs a regular column in which readers send in photos of them. High-tech railway-station displays offer a ‘Restart Windows’ button instead of train times, the cash machine at your local bank shows ‘Fatal Error’ instead of giving you cash (sounds like my credit-card bill) and a shopping centre’s interactive map urges you to restart your machine. Trouble is, the end user has no way of restarting it – that’s the operator’s job, and if he’s got any sense, he’d better do it quickly.

You see, digital signage offers all sorts of advantages over more traditional mediums, but only if it works. A malfunctioning display not only fails to do its intended job, but also reflects badly on your company or client. Instead of carrying your message to the masses, it makes you look tatty and unprofessional.

It can’t be stressed enough. Before installing a digital display in a public area, test it thoroughly under all conditions in which it’s expected to function. Give it a kick before someone else does. Get someone to play hard with it, doing their best to make it crash, then take the necessary measures should it do so. And when it’s up and running, make sure you monitor it regularly, especially when new.

Ultima stands for your Plasma and Lcd screens

April 21st, 2009

Ultima stands for your plasma and Lcd screens, our stands a very different to the normal stand that you can purchase from most shops, the main difference are the high of the stand is quite tall to give you a viewing height equivalent to a wall mounted screen but is still versatile to the fact you can position and turn it to you desired position. The main body has a inner cable management systems to hide away all those unwanted cables to leave you 360′ angle clean and tidy. We have to types of stands which are quite similar the Ultima which is 120cm tall main driven into the home user which is a comfortable viewing height whilst sitting in your chair and comes with a glass shelve for your Digital equipment. The other type is Ultima VT which is 150cm tall which is aimed at the commercial side, ie estate agents, exhibitions, retail, and entrance halls, this stand is identical to the Ultima except height and glass shelve for your Digital equipment as these feature is not a requirement.

Confused Parents

April 17th, 2009

A few weeks ago my parents took the “leap” and swapped their old CRT TV for a 32 inch Toshiba Plasma. The parents probably don’t notice any difference (you know what parents are like?) but other more clued up family members do. I always thought the picture on the old CRT TV was fantastic but now seeing what the Plasma can do I am a convert. I would be the first to admit that it did take a bit of time to get used to but now I have lived with it for a while I am impressed. Some things look better than others when watched on the Plasma but overall the quality of the picture and sound is greatly improved. Even my parents I think are coming round to this “new” (for them its new) technology. The remote seems to have more functions than the previous one so this can still baffle them and at times me (when I press the wrong button) but again give it time. The true test for me would be when there is no-one else in the house and I can grab a beer, put on a DVD, crank up the volume and give the Plasma a real work-out!!
